Australian sustainable technology lifecycle management firm Greenbox Group has announced the acquisition of Wellington-headquartered sustainable technology firm Remark IT.
Founded in 2000, Remark IT provides commissioning, secure disposal and remarketing of IT equipment for Australian and New Zealand enterprises, leasing companies and government agencies.
The acquisition will see Greenbox take on Remark IT’s established operations, which includes facilities in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch that are home to more than 60 staff.
“Our companies already share a focus on creating new solutions to the challenge of managing technology assets sustainably,” Greenbox’s Group CEO Ross Thompson said.
“This acquisition will allow us to utilise and expand our research and development in world-leading circular economy practices.”
“We plan to integrate RemarkIT to our Group to ensure its operations will be certified carbon neutral. This will help companies, tertiary institutions and government agencies in New Zealand to reduce their carbon emissions.”
Greenbox said the acquisition significantly expands its sustainable technology services in Asia-Pacific, which includes e-waste management, desktop as a service as well as refurbishment and recycling services.
“Bringing together our firms will mean better and more sustainable outcomes for our valued clients,” Remark IT’s founder Tim Findlay said.
“We share a commitment to social responsibility, and we look forward to expanding our popular not-for-profit Digital Wings Trust to further reduce waste and help young people access technology.”
“We will continue to provide great IT asset lifecycle management, underpinned by carbon neutral processes.”
The above news has been published on CRN Australia. Greenbox became the first ITAD in the world to be 100% carbon neutral certified by the Australian Government in 2022 and was named Australian Financial Review Sustainability Leader in 2023.
